I. DUE DATES

ABOUT NMMS SCHEME

  1. The Ministry for Human Resource Development, Government of India has launched a centrally sponsored National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS). Under this scheme, an examination will be conducted and selected candidates will get the scholarship.
  2. Every year 1,00,000 students will be selected throughout India. Out of which 4087 scholarships are being allotted to Andhra Pradesh and distributed among the districts based on enrollment in VII & VIII Classes and Child population for every academic year.
  3. The Director of Government Examinations, Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada is conducting the NMMS examination from August 2008.
  4. This examination is conducted annually for the students studying VIII class in Government / Local Body / Municipal / Aided Schools / Model Schools (without Residential Facility).
    Date of examination based on merit: 08-12-2024
  5. The beneficiaries are being selected based on merit and as per the reservation norms followed by the state.

 III. PATTERN OF EXAMINATION

MAT• 90 Multiple Choice Questions.
• 90 Marks & Each question carries one mark.
• No negative marking
SAT• 90 Multiple Choice Questions
• 90 Marks Covering social science, science and mathematics of class VII & VIII.
  Each question carries one mark
• No negative marking.
Duration for both MAT and SAT is 180 Minutes

   IV. QUALIFYING PERCENTAGE:

    1) GEN, BC & PH: 40% (36 MARKS)
    2) SC & ST: 32% (29 MARKS)

  • NOTEThe student must Qualify for both the tests i.e., Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) with at least 40% marks in aggregate taken together for these two tests.

   V. SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT:

  1. TThe selected student shall receive a sum of Rs. 12,000/- per annum for which the selected student shall have to open a joint Savings Bank Account with their parents in any S.B.I or in any Nationalized Bank and should be seeded with the Student Aadhaar.
  2. Every Selected student should complete OTR Registration and submit his/her application on the National Scholarship Portal i.e., www.scholarships.gov.in. After the successful submission of the application on the portal, the concerned Institute Nodal Officer (INO) should Verify the application through INO Login and the same should be verified by the concerned District Nodal Officer (DNO) through DNO Login. Otherwise, the student will not get the scholarship forever
  3. The student should verify Student Login frequently for payment status on the National Scholarship Portal. Status is only available in Student Login.
  4. The Ministry of Education, New Delhi will sanction the scholarship amount and send the list to the SBI, New Delhi for disbursement of scholarship through Aadhaar Based Payment System.

   VI. G.O:

  1. The Govt vide G.O Rt No.713 dated 25/09/2008, permitted the Director of Government Examinations to collect Rs.100/- for O.C/B.C and Rs. 50/- from S.C/S.T towards examination fee. li>

   VII. PARENTAL INCOME:

  1. The candidate’s parental income should be below Rs. 3,50,000/- p.a from all the sources.
